• For this project, view the video “New Employee” by clicking the
following link and then clicking the triangular play button in that
window: New Employee. Use Apply the concepts in Units 3 and 4
to explain the relationship between self-concept and perception in
this interpersonal communication situation by addressing the
following:
• Describe your perception of the situation. What do you observe in
the video?
• What do you think is the self-concept of Toya? Toya’s self concept
is?
• How is self-concept affecting the interaction? Is it helping it?
Hindering it? Explain. Give examples.
• Using the process of human perception starting on page 68, explain
the situation. Apply those concepts to your discussion.
• Then, using the guidelines for improving perception and
communication on page 83, provide at least two tips (or advice) for
each on how to handle the situation in an effective way. Apply the
concepts in that section of the text.
• UNIT 4 PROJECT:
• Explain the situation portrayed in the video by applying
the process of human perception concepts found in the
reading. Use course terminology in your discussion. (#1

• Describe Toya’s self concept based on information from
the reading. Apply the self concept information from the
