A sender ’s purposely manipulation of information so that
it will be seen favourable to the receiver.
Factors such as fear of conveying bad news and the
desire to please one’s boss often lead employees to tell their
superiors what they think their boss want to hear.

and hear based on their
needs, motivation,
experience, background
Receivers also
project their interest and
expectations into
communication as they
decode them.

overload:
A condition in
which information
inflows exceeds an
individuals
processing capacity.
In this situation
people tends to
select out, ignore, or
forget information.

receiver feels at the
time of receipt of a
communication will
influence how he or
she interprets it .
Extreme emotions
such as jubilation or
depression are most
likely to hinder
effective
communication.

Age , education
and cultural background
are three of the more
obvious variables that
influence the language .
In large organizations
members are also
frequently widely
dispersed geographically
and individuals in each
locale will use terms and
phrases that are unique to
that area.
