The American Psychological Association (APA) has
guidelines for writing research reports.
2.
When Denison Psych minors and majors enroll in a
200-level lecture-lab sequence, they learn to write APA
style reports.

Abstract - One Paragraph!!!

The problem being investigated

Brief summary of method and participants

Brief summary of data (no numbers, just words). This
often includes a statement about statistical significance.

Implications of findings

Introduction

Description of the problem / phenomenon under
investigation. Operational definitions can go here. State
why the study is important, or at least what new
information it can provide.
3.
Theoretical relevance of the study, and summary of
relevant literature (e.g., from PubMed). Science is not
done in a vacuum.
4.
Purpose, predictions, and hypotheses to be tested.

Procedure - Describe what the participants and
experimenters did. The level of detail should be sufficient
