where they would suffer from tropical diseases.
Landscape
French Imperialism (1883-1886)

staying in South Vietnam with Viet Minh
• Raids to find Viet Cong
• War Tactics
• My Lai Massacre
Guerilla Warfare
• Because of their jungle landscape, Vietnamese
planted mines and secret holes and tunnels to
hide in
• Even having a relatively weak military, this put
them on par with American soldiers
Agent Orange
• In order to rid Vietnam of their hideouts,
American soldiers sprayed tar, rat poison, and
deadly chemicals all over the landscape
• All though an effective strategy, more then
500,000 thousand civillians experience birth
defects
• Water Contamination
My Lai Massacre
• Mass murder of 347-500 unarmed South
Vietnamese civillians
• Commanded by “Charlie” Company of 1st

• Sparked controversy in America
Conclusion
• Vietnam having weak military tactics, soon
evolved through experience and developed a
unique strategy pertaining to their specialized
landscape.
