The Ming Dynasty
The Ming Restore Chinese Rule
– Chinese despised Mongol rulers
– High taxes and corruption led to uprisings
– Zhu Yaunzhang led a rebel army that defeated the
Mongols
– 1368 they founded a new dynasty called the Ming
which means brilliant.
– Their goal was to restore Chinese greatness
– Restored: Confucian learning, civil service, censors to
root out bureaucracy and corruption.
Economic Revival
Ming dynasty was very productive

the population

– 62 ships, 25,000 sailors
– Between 1405-1433 Zheng He explored South
East Asia, India, Red Sea and the Persian Gulf
