Ancient China

Dragons
• The Chinese call themselves Descendants
of the Dragon. The Chinese worship
dragons. The emperors wore dragons on
the back of their robes. The Chinese
dragon Lung symbolizes power,
excellence, valiancy, boldness, heroism,
perseverance, nobility, and divinity. The
dragons were able to live in the sea and fly
up to the heavens. They could also coil up
into a mountain.
Qin [ The First Emperor]
• Qin was an evil emperor. Qin also
developed laws for China. Qins original
name was Ch’in and that is how China got
its name. Qin conquered China. Qin
burned all the books in China. He built the
Great Wall of China.
Dynasties
• A dynasty is a ruling family that passes the
country on to their son. The Shang was
the first dynasty. The Zhou conquered the
Shang and they ruled from 1122 B.C. to
253 B.C.
The Great Wall of China
• In Chinese the wall is called “ Wan-LiQing” which means 5,000 kilometers. It
stretches across the mountains of northern
China, of Beijing. The wall was built at the
end of the 14th century and ended at the
beginning of the 17th century. Scientists
have found more of the wall so it makes it
50 miles longer.
