Geography of China kept it very
isolated.
Himalayas, Gobi Desert, Jungles, +
Pacific Ocean kept China cut off.
In China, two rivers (Huang He and
Chang) created very fertile soil.
Area around these rivers became
most populated.

Shang dynasty 1st in China around 1500 BC
Shang responsible for building 1st cities, like
Anyang.

Made human sacrifices for good harvest or battle.
Used oracle bones to read the future.
1st known writing in China.

The Qin Dynasty
Ruled China from 221-206 B.C.
Qin dynasty comes in after Zhou.
Qin Shi Huangdi, “First Emperor” makes many
changes.
