RESISTANCE (GERMANY COMPETED AGAINST FRANCE AND GERMANY)
ALLIANCE SYSTEM
• AFTER THE ASSASSINATION OF ARCHDUKE FRANZ FERDINAND OF AUSTRIAHUNGARY BY A SERBIAN EXTREMIST, RUSSIA, GERMANY, AND OTHER

• THE TRIPLE ENTENTE, LATER BECAME THE “ALLIES” CONSISTED OF FRANCE, GREAT BRITAIN, AND RUSSIA
• THE TRIPLE ALLIANCE CONSISTED OF GERMANY, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY, AND ITALY (ITALY WOULD JOIN THE
ALLIES LATER ON IN THE WAR. LATER CALLED THE “CENTRAL POWERS”
