 The Washington Monument is an obelisk on
the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
 built to commemorate George
Washington, once commander-in-chief of
the Continental Army and the
first American president
 is both the world's tallest stone structure
and the world's tallest obelisk (169.046 m)
Statue of Liberty
 The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical
sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in
New York City, in the United States
 It was a gift to the United States from the people of
France
 The statue is of a robed female figure
representing Libertas, the Roman goddess, who
bears a torch and a tablet evoking the law upon
which is inscribed the date of the American
Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776
 The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United
States, and was a welcoming sight to immigrants
arriving from abroad.

stripes of red alternating with white,
with a blue rectangle in the canton
bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars

and became the first states in the US
