Is about:
When compromise between the North and South failed,
the United States was divided by war. In Chapter 16, you
will continue to learn about how the American Civil War
tested the strength of the bond between the states.
During the Civil War, Americans fought each other on the
battlefields and in government. Eventually the nation was
reunited, but deep scars remained. In Chapter 17, you
will learn about the rebuilding of the South after the war
came to an end.
