James Monroe
• Monroe was born in Virginia in 1758 and he
died in 1831.
• Monroe was the fifth president of the
United States, serving as president from
1817 to 1825.

The Monroe Doctrine said:

that wanted to re-conquer a
country that gained
independence.

not interfere in colonies that
were still under European rule,
like Cuba and Canada.
