The outer surface of bone is called the periosteum. The next layer is
made up of compact bone. This part is smooth and very hard. Within
the compact bone are many layers of cancellous bone. Cancellous
bone is not quite as hard as compact bone, but it is still very strong. In
many bones, the cancellous bone protects the innermost part of the
bone, the bone marrow. Look at the paragraph below for more info:

The skeletal system is important to your body and here’s why: Without it,
you’d be a blob, you wouldn’t be able to balance yourself. The bones that
keep you from being a blob are the skull, vertebra, sternum, rib, radius,
ulna, femur, fibula, tibia, pelvis, and the humerus. Protect the bones, or
you will have bad conditioned bones, which will lead to a bad and
unhealthy life.
Jacks healthy tip: Take
care of your bones
they are one of the
most important things
in your body.

The Femur: The femur is the bone in your thigh that allows you do
be capable of many things. The femur allows you to run and jump,
and you run and jump a lot more than you think. All of the sports
make you run and jump. You run and jump at recess, and also in
gym class.
The tibia and fibula: The tibia in fibula are right around
the same area around the shin. The tibia and fibula don’t
carry much weight. The tibia and fibula act as a stabilizer
to to help carry your legs
The patella: The patella bone is the bone that is the kneecap.
The patella is a circular triangular bone that covers and protects
the knee joint. It is the largest sesamoid bone in the human
body.
(These are only a few of the lower body bones)

The Ribs: The ribs are some of the most important bones in
your body. It protects valuable organs and your heart. It also
holds your upper body. It would be one of the worst bones to
break.
The sternum: The sternum is the bone in the middle of
your chest. It is a flat dagger shaped bone. It is pretty
flat bone too. It also protects the lungs and heart like
the ribs.
The scapula and the humorous: The scapula is basically called the
shoulder blade. It is the bone that protects the shoulders muscles.
The humorous is connected to the scapula. It is part of the upper
arm.
(These aren’t all the bones of the upper body)

Carpals: The bone directly under the knuckle. It is the bone at the
bottom of the hand.
Metacarpals: The metacarpals is the bone at the bottom of the
fingers, thumb, and pinky. There are five on each toe.
The phalanges: The phalanges is the bone at the end of the
finger, thumb, and pinky finger. It is also the bone at the end of all
the toes.
Tarsals: The tarsal is the bone at the bottom of the foot. It is
directly under the five metatarsals
Metatarsals: The metatarsals are at the bottom of the toe. There are
fiver metatarsals in each foot.
These bones

Did you know you have more than 600 muscles in your
body? They do everything from pumping blood
throughout your body. You control some of your
muscles, while others , like your heart do their jobs
without you thinking about them at all. Muscles are all
made of the same material, a type of elastic tissue.
Thousands, or even tens of thousands, of small fibers
make up each muscles. Look at the paragraph below for
more info.
The muscles in your body are extremely important,
without them, humans would not have many abilities.
Some of the most important are the Occipital,
Trapezious, Deltoid, Latissimus dorsi, Gluteus maximus,
Biceps, Triceps, Pectoralis major, Biceps Femoris, Soleus,
and Achilles Tendon. It is important to stay away from
injuring or hurting your muscles because they are very
important to your body.

The skin is very important to your body. It prevents your muscles
from getting damaged, and keeps your bones and important
organisms inside your body. Without the skin, many important
body parts would get damaged and most likely you would die. The
skin is a very important body part, and here’s why. (Paragraph
below shows why)
Skin is very important to your body and here’s why: The protects
our body in a lot of ways, it can prevents our valuable bones and
inside organs from getting harmed. It also keeps our body’s at
the correct temperature, which keeps us healthy. The skin also
gives us the sense of touch. The skin is the biggest organ in our
body.

The nervous system is basically a network that
transfers messages from the brain to the rest of
the body. It gives you many abilities as shown in
the paragraph below. You could not survive
without the nervous system, so be thankful you
have one!!!
The main thing about the nervous system is that
without it, you’d die. Without the nervous
system, you wouldn’t be able to taste, smell,
hear, think, breath, heart beating, laugh, sleep,
feel pain or pleasure, run, dream, remember
anything, paint, or even write without the
nervous system. Without it, you wouldn’t be able
to do anything of the things above. It is
EXTREMELY important to your body!!!
http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/brain.html
Read the paragraph
above, you couldn’t
do any one of those
things without the
nervous system!
Protect it well!

Your digestive system started working even before you took the
first bite of your pizza. And the digestive system will be busy at
work on your chewed up lunch for the next few hours or
sometimes days, depending upon what you've eaten. This
process, called digestion, allows your body to get the nutrients
and energy it needs from the food you eat. So let's find out
what's happening to that pizza, orange, and milk. Look at the
paragraph below for more info.

The digestive system is an important part of the human
body. It helps us digest our food, so you get the energy
and nutrients from the food or drink. Like when you eat
fruit, you wouldn’t get the health from that fruit without
the digestive system. The digestive system helps our
bodies in many ways, these are just a few.
The digestive systems helps
you get all the proteins from
foods, which keeps you healthy

The movement of the blood through the heart and around
the body is called circulation, and your heart is really good at
it takes less than 60 seconds to pump blood to every cell in
your body. Your body needs this steady supply of blood to
keep it working right. Blood delivers oxygen to all the body's
cells. To stay alive, a person needs healthy, living cells.
Without oxygen, these cells would die. And you can not live
without oxygen- rich cells. Look at the paragraph below for
more info.
The circulatory system is extremely important to your body,
escpecially your blood flow. The circulatory system is what keeps
your blood flowing, from the heart and through the blood veins.
Here’s how it works, the heart pumps water out through little
pumps, and the circulatory system carries it around the body. It’s
that simple!

You need oxygen rich blood
to live! Protect the circulatory
system!

All of the blood cells in your body need oxygen.
Without it, the blood cells couldn’t turn food
into energy, which would kill you. When you
breath in air, the oxygen spread through your
body, spreading it to the blood cells. How does
this all work? With the respiratory system.
The lungs, airways, diaphragm, windpipe,
throat, mouth, and nasal passages are all part
of the respiratory system. Respiration is the
process of breathing in and out through this
system. Smoking and air pollution are two
common causes of respiratory problems.

If you don’t smoke, you
will have a healthy
respiratory system
The heart is made up of four different bloodfilled areas, and each of these areas is called a
chamber. There are two chambers on each side
of the heart. One chamber is on the top and
one chamber is on the bottom. The two
chambers on top are called the. If you're
talking only about one, call it an atrium. The
atria are the chambers that fill with the blood
returning to the heart from the body and
lungs. The heart has a left atrium and a right
atrium. Look at the paragraph below for more
info.

The heart is probably the most important part of the
body, and it is probably the first body part you learn.
Most young kids think that the heart is shaped like a
heart, but it is really not. You know how your heart
beats, when your heart beats, it pumps blood into parts Keep active to
protect the heart, it is
of the body. Without the heart, you’d die in seconds
VERY valuable

• Heart problems are the leading cause of death in the
world.
• A woman’s heart beats faster than a man’s.
• The human heart weighs less than a pound.
• The human heart beats about 35 million times a year
• Most heart attacks occur around 8 and 9 am.
• In a lifetime, the heart pumps 1 million barrels of blood

The human brain is the center intelligence in your
body. Without one, you’d be as dumb as a rock. It
keeps your whole body moving. If you didn’t have a
brain, you would not be able to move or solve
anything, because you would not know how to do it.
So next time you have to do your math homework, be
thankful you have your brain!
You want to take care of the brain, because
without it, your body couldn’t function right. Here are
some things you should try to avoid: Brain Tumers.
They are the second leader children’s cancer in the
world. It affects about 2,300 kids per year.

Atrium: A body cavity or chamber, especially
either of the upper chambers of the heart that
receives blood from the veins and forces it into
a ventricle.
The Circulatory system: the
organs and tissues involved in
circulating blood and lymph
through the body
Ventricle: A chamber of the heart that receives
blood from an atrium and pumps it to the
arteries
Organ: A part of the body that
performs a specific function.
For example, the heart is an
organ
The Respiratory System: the group of organs
responsible for carrying oxygen from the air to
the bloodstream, and for expelling carbon
dioxide.
Heart Chamber: One of the four
sections of the heart used to aid in
pumping blood into or out of the
correct veins and arteries.
Wear sunscreen, to
protect the skin from
the suns rays.
DON’T SMOKE!!!!!!!!!
This can cause major
respiratory problems,
and that is NOT good
for your health
