Introduction
America has immigrated people. There
are a lot of immigrants in Wisconsin. A lot
of immigrants came to America by water.
America has grown in people since 1848
most of the immigrants were either
American or European. The Federal
government has to check and see how
many people there are every 10 years. In
1850; 305,391 people were here.

The population grew 200,000 in 1860
since 1850. By 1870 there were more than
1 million people in Wisconsin. There were
more than 200 towns with 2500
population. After 1863,the Pole people
came to Wisconsin in 1.Marinetle 2.Steven

• Before 1870, many people lived in rural
communities either on farms or small
towns in villages.
Population
• Less than 20 percent of the population
was clustered in towns of 2500 people or
more. By 1870, the population of twentyseven towns had more than 2500 people
living there. The urban population doubled
to forty-eight. Eleven of them had 10,000
population. Twenty-four urban
communities had 5000 population.38.2
percent of people moved into urban
communities in 1900.
• In 1877, Milwaukee’s ‘the Christian
Statesman’ was urging farm boys to stay
home and to not come to the city.

• Some big cities were Milwaukee and
Madison.

• There were (106,000)
people in Wisconsin.

foreign. A group of
foreigners began to
speak English. After
that foreigners began
to go.
Wisconsin Foreigners
• Now 277,000 people lived in Wisconsin.
But only 35.7 foreigners lived in
Wisconsin.

The Polka in Wisconsin
• The polka is the state dance of Wisconsin.
• The polka is a slower version of the gallop.

• Richard was a really good composer, one
of his students started the Madison School
of music.
ART IN WISCONSIN

• Wisconsin art during the 19th century was
separated by realism. The art was
primarily expressed through nature and
landscapes. These artist were truly the
first of any American school of painting
dedicated to capturing the realism of the
new frontier.
• “The ideas of equality , freedom of
opporunity faith in the common man are
deer rooted in al the Middle West…Not
were these ideals limited too the Native
American settlers.
• In addition, the Native Americans already
living here continued their tribal art
tradition.
