JAROSLAV JEŽEK
LIFE
Jaroslav Ježek was born 25th September 1906 in Prague.
He was the Czech music composer, kapellmeister, pianist and so on.
He made music for dance shows, theatre performances and movies.
His inspiration was jazz.
He suffered illness cataract when he was a child. He studied a special school for blind
children. He almost lost hearing.
In 1923 he started studying at Prague conservatory. He was one of the best students.
He met Mr. Voskovec and Mr. Werich. Jaroslav made songs with them. He wrote music and they
wrote lyrics.
Some of their very popular songs were Life is just a coincidence,
Hat in the bush,
Heaven on earth
.
In 1939 he emigrated to the USA. He lived in Pensylvania and then in New York.
DEATH
In 1942 he died in America.
He was only 36 years old.
He had kidney disease.
His urn was transferred to the Czech Rep. after the war.
One of our conservatories is named after him.
