Beat
Rhythm is the flow of music in time.
Beat is the regular pulsing that divides music in
time.
Every song has a beat
Beats add personality to a song.
Tempo
Tempo is the speed of the beat in music.
Tempo indicators are words that tell the
speed of a song. They are usually in Italian

In songs today, the melody is usually the part of
the singer.
Harmony is the added instruments that
accompany the melody in a song.
In songs today, the harmony is played by the
guitars or pianos that support the singer.
Form
Form is the organization of music
The two most common forms in music are:
Three Part Form (Ternary): A B A
Two Part Form (Binary): A B
Musical Style
Style in music refers the characteristic sound of
music a time period
Music is divided into these different stylistic
periods:
Middle Ages (450-1450)
Renaissance (1450-1600)
Baroque (1600-1750)
Classical (1750- 1820)
Romantic (1820-1900)
Twentieth Century to 1945
1945 to Present
