just have a musical ear-he also had a
green thumb. He was a successful
farmer, and planted a new tree every
time he completed an opera.

First have students read the text silently.
Then read text aloud as a class. Brainstorm
the schema and stimulate ideas. Have
students think in terms of modern musical
groups and the fashions and trends those
groups inspire as well as politics of today
and its relationship to music. Guide them
into thinking of what is important and
valuable to them.
