Target Market
Start off by…..
Finding out who your target market will be?
Your TARGET MARKET will change depending on
the type of music you choose !
SO….. WHAT is a TARGET
MARKET?
Target Market:
A specific group of consumers
at which a company aims its
products and services. Your
target customers are those
who are most likely to buy
from you.
When FINDING your Target Market…
Resist the temptation to be too general in the hopes of
getting a larger slice of the market.
Here are some
questions to get you
started:
Are your target customers male or female?
How old are they?
Where do they live? Is geography a limiting factor for
any reason?
What do they do for a living?
How much money do they make? This is most
significant if you're selling relatively expensive or
luxury items.
What other aspects of their lives matter? Lifestyle,
religion, stages in each individuals life?
Target markets are groups of
people separated by
distinguishable and noticeable
aspects. Target markets can be
separated into:
• geographic segmentations (their location)
• demographic/socio-economic segmentation (gender,age, income
occupation, education, sexual orientation, household size, and
stage in the family life cycle)
• psychographic segmentation (similar attitudes, values, and
lifestyles)
• behavioral segmentation (occasions, degree of loyalty)
• product-related segmentation (relationship to a product)
NOW THAT YOU HAVE A
TARGET MARKET…..
LETS GET TO WORK!
FIRST things FIRST!
STEP ONE: Brainstorm on what you want your cover to
look like? What GENRE are you going to be in?
What does the composition look like? How does the cover,
back, disc, booklette look like?
What is the NAME of the BAND?
Find the FONT that goes well with that genre of music?
How will the type, visuals, photos all work together?
What is the Color scheme?
What about the Cover?
FIND cd cover art that you like and try to use that as a
guideline to create your own. BUT DO NOT COPY
THEIR ARTWORK…it must ALL be ORIGINAL!
EXAMPLES:
FIND PICTURES THAT GOES WITH THE
THEME OF THE ALBUM!
START OF WITH YOUR COVER ART
BACKGROUND IN PHOTOSHOP….
YOU MUST EDIT A PHOTO AND SET IT AS
YOUR BACKGROUND.
FOR MY BACKGROUND I ADDED A TEXTURE, TWEEKED THE OPACITY AND FEATHERED THE
EDGES.
MOVE IMAGES OVER TO ILLUSTRATOR AND ADD TITLE
AND LOGO ART….
THIS WILL HAVE TO BE MADE BY YOU!
BAND NAME LOGO AND
VECTOR ART
FINISHED PRODUCT
BOOKLETT PAGES
INSIDE BOOKLETT
REPEAT PROCESS
FOR THE BACK COVER YOU WILL REPEAT THE
PROCESS ADDING ANY LOGO ART, SONG
TITLES, BAR CODE, MUSIC COMPANY LOGOS
ETC.
MAKE SURE THE BACK COVER GOES WITH
THE FRONT COVER….THE LAYOUT NEEDS TO
WORK WITH EACH OTHER!
