Focus Question
For two groups you have studied, assess
the extent to which community structures
assist in resolving conflict between the
group and the wider society.
Conflict
How do stereotypes lead to conflict between
youth and society?
I don't have
an attitude
problem. You
have a
perception
problem.
I can please
only one
person per
day. Today is
not your day.
Tomorrow
isn't looking
good, either.
When is the world going to realize that
we know everything?
Community Structures
Assess Community Structures
Conflict – young people cause trouble because they are
bored.
Structures that may
help
e.g. Skate park
How it assists
It gives young people
a place to go and an
activity to do to keep
them occupied. They
are being active and
having fun whilst
hanging out with their
friends. This may help
them to stay out of
trouble because they
are active.
How well it assists
Skate parks do a good
job in keeping young
people from being
bored, which is when
they are more likely to
get into trouble.
It is a place where they
are able to socialize
and spend time with
friends, minimising
boredom.
However, students
may truant school to
hang out there, graffiti
and can be a place
where trouble makers
hang out.
Thank you for your time today and
good luck with your exams
