What Do You Know About Cells?
What Is A Cell?
a. Something yummy to eat.
b. Something we can see in the air.
c. The building block of all life form.
What Is A Cell?
A cell is the building block
of all living things.
Without cells we would
not be alive.

Who Discovered the Cell?
Unfortunately, it was not Mrs. Putt or Mrs.
Scarbrough. Robert Hooke is credited
for first observing the cell by using a
microscope.
This was back in 1665.

Is more than one type of cell?
There are many kinds of cells.
For our lesson we are focusing
on basic plant and animal cells.
What are the basic parts of an
animal cell?
a. Hair, claws, and feathers.
b. Teeth, ears, and wings.
c. Cell membrane, nucleus,
cytoplasm.
Animal Cell
Animal cells have a
cell membrane that
covers the cell.
They have a nucleus
in the middle, and
cytoplasm located
throughout the cell.
What are the basic parts of a
plant cell?
a. Roots, leaves, stems.
b. Flowers, seeds, fruit.
c. Cell wall, nucleus, chloroplasts,
cell membrane, and cytoplasm.
Plant Cell
All plant cells have a cell
wall.
That is why they are more
rectangular in shape.
They have a nucleus in the
middle. They have
chloroplasts that makes the
food for the cell.
Cytoplasm, which is a clear
jelly-like material, is found
throughout the cell.

True of False
Plant cells have chloroplasts that make
food and animal cells do not.

Plant cells are more box-like in
