AUSTRALIAN OTITIS MEDIA CONFERENCE
2-4th May 2012 – Fremantle, WA
NACCHO/OMOZ
NACCHO is now partnering with OMOZ to conduct an Australian Otitis Media
Conference. The conference will be held in Fremantle, Western Australia. The
program will inform conference participants how research transfers into health
service practice. Most services are busy with the practice of identifying ear health
conditions and advising of the most appropriate care for their clients.
Several research studies and various treatment guidelines have been updated
through the years to help reduce the burden of preventable hearing loss associated
with ear health disease, particularly as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
have the highest rates of severe OM than non-Aboriginal people.
The topics are streamlined to inform you of how research continues to guide otitis
media clinical care and ear and hearing health prevention and promotion programs.
This conference welcomes an audience from all health care professionals such as
AHWs, doctors, nurses, audiologists, audiometrists and ENT surgeons, scientists and
other relevant specialists who work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
NACCHO particularly extends an invitation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ear
health workers and their relevant primary health care services in the Aboriginal
Community Controlled Health Sector and the Community Health Care Services to
attend. A sponsorship/subsidy will be available through a registration process for
students and AHWs. Registration closing date is 2nd April 2012.
Abstract submissions are now open and will close on 16th March 2012. Refer to the
program outline for abstract content and email to [email protected].
