Marine biology is the study of living
organisms inhabiting the oceans as well as
other marine and brackish sources of water.
Study the origins, behavior, diseases,
genetics, and life processes of animals and
wildlife of the marine environment.
Research the sea and its lifeforms.

Marine Biologists make about
$50,000 per year with a masters
degree.

Educational Requirements
• Required Classes would be
chemistry, biology, zoology, physics,
and mathematics.
• Primarily a Masters of Science (MS)
and PhD degree are required but
many schools are now offering
Bachelors of Science (BS) in Marine
Biology as well.

• Marine biologists work in offices and
laboratories. They also work on boats, at sea,
or in isolated coastal areas in all weather

To work in the marine biology field,
you would have to live on a coast or near
the ocean. The specific ocean would
depend on what exactly you want to

you are interested in.
