American Revolution

• Explain the causes and effects of the
American Revolution
• Explain the role of the enlightenment on
the American Revolution
It was a power struggle
• Britain wanted America
to accept their authority
– But had neglected the
colonies for over 100 yrs
• America has grown in a
different direction
– Influenced by the French
Enlightenment
• It is all about parents (British) getting the
children (colonies) to do something they do not
want to do (pay taxes)
