Getting Ready for Report Design





Install Crystal Reports full product
Tell halFILE the location of the CRW32.EXE file
Copy the file CRPE32.DLL into your halFILE
program directory
Think about the information you want reported
and how you would like it formatted
SoftPro users name the existing
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CRPE32.DLL to .SAV,
install Crystal Reports, copy the new
CRPE32.DLL to HALFILE program directory, then
name CRPE32.SAV back to .DLL

HALREPORTS.DSN - The Microsoft Text File
Data Source halFILE creates to run reports
HALCARD.TXT - Database records for a card
format report
HALREPORT.TXT – Database records for a noncard format report
CRITERIA.TXT – Search criteria text
HITLIST.TXT – Records from the hit list only
SCHEMA.INI – Tells Crystal field formats (date,
number, etc. to facilitate report design)

Click REPORT button
Click INSERT REPORT
