MS ACCESS Limitations: Even the most recent versions of Access do not support database files larger than 2GB. What is XML? • • • • XML stands for Extensible Markup Language XML is a markup language much like HTML XML was designed to carry data, not to display data XML tags are not predefined. You must define your own tags • XML is designed to be self-descriptive • XML is a W3C Recommendation Raw data is not hardcoded in to the cBiz application rather it is stored in XML files. Therefore modifying XML is customizing cBiz. How easy is to customize a cBiz form? As easy as moving icons on your desktop. Click on Tools Customize Form Designer Select your Folder Click on Form Designer How can a database help my company? More information available to the recruiters • Recruiters have access to wider range of data that was previously held in separate folders and sometimes on incompatible systems Increased Productivity • The database provides an easy to use query language that allows recruiters to get immediate response from their queries rather than having to use a manual way of checking What value is added to our business if we centralize our data? • Facilitates building, maintaining and enhancing the database. • Data integrity is improved. • Data redundancy is eliminated. There is only one valid data set. • Recruiter’s space problems are reduced. Each recruiter no longer has to have an entire collection of the organization's data sets to be productive. • Data security issues can be controlled by assigning a data manager or administrator to monitor and update changes to the database. • Data is easily shared amongst divisions and branches. What is Load-on-Demand and how does it work in cBiz? • If you are accessing the cBizOne database (SQL Server) remotely, you can check the Hosted/Remote Database box for load-on-demand for optimal remote speed and performance. • It will not load all the records in the database; rather it will load only the first n number of records. What is data synchronization? • Data synchronization is the process of establishing consistency among data on remote sources and the continuous harmonization of the data over time. • SQL Replication. What Is a Port Number? • In computer networking, a port number is part of the addressing information used to identify the senders and receivers of messages. • Port numbers are associated with network addresses. Example: Port numbers work like telephone extensions. Just as a business telephone switchboard can use a main phone number and assign each employee an extension number (like x100, x101, etc.), so a computer has a main address and a set of port numbers to handle incoming and outgoing connections.
