Slavery
Slaves in Egypt had rights unlike the slaves that had no rights
at all. They could possibly own personal items, inherit land
from their owner, and, if chosen by their owner, could be set
free.
The Lives of the Peasants
Although peasants could own land, they usually worked for
wealthier people. Harvest season was especially busy for the
peasants who worked for the wealthier people. They would
work sunrise and sundown until the work was done. Phew!
Talk about hard labor!
Women of Ancient Egypt
The women had most of the rights that the men had. They
could own property, enter legal contracts, and, for the most
part, travel freely.
