Who were they? Page 1
The Egyptians were people who lived
thousands years ago. It was even before
Jesus was born, way before. Egyptian
times started in 7500 BCE when the first
settlers arrived in Nile valley. Egyptians
also had jobs like farming, being servants
and working at home doing jobs.

Also the Egyptians liked to fish in the boats
they built and ride them in the river Nile.
But even though the Egyptians had good
lives they didn’t have electricity. People
think that civilisations from the past aren’t
very clever, but Ancient Egyptians proved
different. Because of there inventions e.g.
the shduf.

Pyramids
The Egyptians built pyramids for their gods,
goddesses, kings and queens. The
important people also were buried in the
pyramids.
The ancient Egyptians built pyramids as
tombs for the pharaohs and their queens.
The pharaohs were buried in pyramids of
many different shapes and sizes.

Gods
There was lots of gods in the Egyptian times, for example Isis.
Isis was a protective goddess. She used powerful magic spells
to help people in need. Here are some more gods. Click on

Mummies
When people in ancient Egypt died they were
wrapped in bandages to stop their bodies from
rotting. This was called mummification. The
mummies bodies were then buried, the special
people like kings and queens were buried in
special pyramids. Click on this page to find out

The sphinx
The sphinx is a sort of creature with a head of a
human and the body of a lion. It was an important
god of the Egyptians. The sphinx is still there in
Egypt, it is very fascinating to look at.
The Great Sphinx of Giza is the most famous
Egyptian sphinx. It was built near the Giza
Pyramids around 2500 BC by the pharaoh
Khafre. People believe that the face on the
Great Sphinx is Khafre.

Entertainment
Children liked to play leapfrog and tug of war. They also
played with Egyptian toys such as dolls. It was fun to go down
to the river and have a picnic, fish, or try to catch water birds.
The hole family played games when the mother of the house
wasn't busy, which she normally was. They played games such
as knuckle-bones and checkers.And the men went
hunting.Also they invented a lot games we still play today like
hockey.They used palm trees instead of sticks and leather balls
for pucks.
In the picture below two people are playing a game called tug
of hoop.What you did was two people competed to snatch the
hoop.

Servants
The Egyptians Kings and Queens had servants to
serve them food, water and fan them. Even though
they could do things there selves they got servants
to do things for them. The Egyptian kings and
queens believed the were special and shouldn't
have to do things there selves. When they died
they got people to kill two servants so that when
they came back in after life the servants would
carry on working for them.

The
Nile
THE NILE
The river Nile is 6,670 kilometres long and the longest
river in the world. Also most Egyptians built boats to do
lots of things like: Fishing, Trading and rich people went
on trips. Egyptians believed that the god of the sun Ra
floated over the Nile at least once a day. Also that the
god Hapy was the reason of the flood. The flood
happen once every year it helped the farmers to grow
crops. Because it made a rich thick soil. To find out
