“It’s just a fast road down the highway from beginning to end…It’s
a play that I think will reach into the hearts of any audiences, it’s
beautifully designed, wonderfully put together”
– Kathryn Kelly, Executive Director of Playlab
This extraordinary and inspired play is the true and human
story behind the ill-fated Kursk, a Russian submarine which
vanished under mysterious circumstances in 2000.
Australian Playwright, Sasha Janowicz, travelled to Russia to seek
out the truth behind the controversy.
We follow three narratives
The sailors trapped beneath the ocean awaiting rescue
The political games and intrigue that surround the rescue attempt.
The friends, family and loved ones
who wait desperately for any news
Beneath the political drama lies a love story filled with bravery and courage.
This unique production magically captures the submariners’
claustrophobic world and the terrifying ordeal that they endured.
