Think Tac Toe - Vocabulary
Directions: Below are some really fun ways to practice vocabulary. Every other week you will complete the center square
for the new unit. Then you will choose two additional activities to make any tic-tac-toe design: horizontally, vertically, or
diagonally
Create a comic strip
. using at least
6 words from the unit. The strip
must include pictures and speech
bubbles. Use comic strip paper or
the computer web site below.

Write a story: Using all
twenty words, write a short
story. Try to use context
clues, or clues in the
sentences that hint at the
new vocabulary word.
Write a song or rap including at
least 10 words demonstrating
your knowledge of the words.
Create a Word Map for all 20
words. Include the definition,
a picture, synonyms, and
antonyms. Create the word
map using the template found
on the class website
Write a poem or complete a
word pyramid using at least 10
of the words. Use the word
pyramid format.
Design a card game or board
game that uses all words’
definitions and spellings.
Include directions. When you
are finished, play the game
with a friend.
Create a crossword puzzle
using definitions, synonyms,
and antonyms. Use graph
paper or the computer site
below.

Create a book: Use all
fifteen words and create a
book. Either write a story
with illustrations; write an
ABC book; etc. Be creative!
Create categories or
groups for the vocabulary
words and then regroup
them in another way.
