Corner Assignment Card for Pocket Chart
There are several activities I use with the pocket chart.
-Students can sequence a poem which has been written on sentence strips (option-write)
-Students can sequence a story the class has written (option-write)
-Students can practice reading simple sentences with high frequency words. Since the
high frequency words really limit what can be said, I also put in some picture cards in
place of words. Then they write the sentence.
-Students can read sentences with “mystery” words. In this activity, I cover a word
with a card. Students must use context clues to figure out what the word is. Usually
they make a few guesses and then check the first letter. Then they write the sentence.
