UPCOMING EVENTS
Mrs. Scott’s
Kindergarten Class
Week in Review
This week we met Callie Cat for letter C.
We made our corn page for our first
Thanksgiving book and loved using that
page and all of them to tell the story at
our feast. Our feast was a huge hit!!!
Thank you for your donations. We
learned so much about hunting,
gathering, and farming. We made many
class books including how we travel for
Thanksgiving, how we would hide as a
turkey, and what our favorite
Thanksgiving food is. We did
Thanksgiving math story problems, and
used corn to compare greater than and
less than.

Reading
When you read with your child try….
Having them point to the word while
they read
Having them refer to the picture clues
when trying to figure out words
Having them use beginning sounds to
figure out words
Having them stretch sounds together
to sound out a word
To read like they are excited if they
see an exclamation mark and raise
their voice like asking something when
they see a question mark
Closing the book after reading and
retell everything you have read in
sequence.

Things to Practice
-Sounding out to write – try tapping or clapping
out three letter words and writing what you hear.
-Sound out to write sentences – remember
space between words, spell rainbow words
correctly, period at the end.
-Practice addition problems using numbers 5 or
less. We need to be able to answer these
without fingers or manipulatives.
-Write numbers 0-10. Try writing in sand on a
cookie sheet, with a variety of tool s(pens,
markers, crayons) or in shaving cream
-Practice rainbow words – try laying all the words
we have had so far on the table face up, have
one person say a word, and your child and
another player try to slap it with two fingers first,
the most cards at the end wins.
-Read, read, read

Have a wonderful time with your family.
