URANUS
The seventh planet from the sun, Uranus,
was discovered accidentally in 1781.
In1787, two of Uranus’s larger moons,
Titania and Oberon, were discovered.
URANUS
• The rotational axis of Uranus is tipped over
so far that the north pole almost lies in its
orbital plane.
• Each pole on Uranus spends 42 Earth years
in darkness and 42 Earth years in sunlight
due to this tilt and Uranus’s long trip around
the Sun.

• There are 18 known moons and rings of
Uranus
• The moons orbit in the planets equatorial
plane
• They have discovered 3 more possible
moons
ATMOSPHERE
• Uranus is 4times as large and 15 times as
massive as Earth.
• It has a blue, velvety appearance, which is
caused by its atmospheric composition
ATMOSPHERE
• Uranus’s atmosphere reflects blue light back
into space.
• Most of the atmosphere is composed of
helium and hydrogen.
