The Michigan Merit Curriculum recommends two years
of World Language credits. 1 credit is mandatory for
graduation. The second credit is highly recommended
for college bound students but can be substituted with
and additional VPA credit / completed KCTC program.


All courses outside of requirements are electives.
The typical 9th grade schedule may allow for one
elective:
 English 9
 Math
 World History & Geography
 Biology
 Health and Physical Education
 World Language or Elective
 STEM Academy: Offsite program emphasizing science, technology,
engineering and math for 9th and 10th grade year. Stem Academy is a 2 hour block
and meets a core science and VPA requirement. Applications can be picked up
from the Middle School Guidance Office.
 PE: This requirement may be completed during our Summer School Program.
Fees will apply for Summer School.
▪ PE Waiver.
Must complete 2 seasons of a school sponsored sport or two years
of band with summer camp. Applications due to the MS Counseling office by May 18
 KCTC – programs can meet some of the High School required credits.
It is
important to plan early with your child’s counselor (World Language and VPA)
 NCAA Eligibility: It is important to complete core course work to play as a
college freshman. www.eligibilitycenter.org. Take caution with online courses.
 Middle College / Davenport Univ. Information. Look for
information during the 10th grade year.

 Original Birth Certificate
 Proof of Residency
 Current Immunization Records
 Transcript of grades or last report card if available
 504 or IEP if applicable
3. After March 1, please call the HS Student Services
office at 784-3604 to make an appointment with a
counselor.
Returning students will receive a letter in the
spring with a username and password to update
your registration information at
infoupdate.khps.org.


