AP College Board Expectations
Strong curiosity about the subject you plan
to study.
Show willingness to push yourself to the
limit.
Study subjects in greater depth and detail.
Assume the responsibility of reasoning,
analyzing, and understanding for yourself.
BE PREPARED TO SPEND EXTRA TIME
STUDYING OUT OF CLASS.
The AP Exam…
Exams are typically administered in May;
Exams are Required. A score of 3 or
higher = reimbursement of fee;
Exams take approximately 3-4 hours;
The fee for EACH exam is $87.00
(Reduced fees for financial need are
considered).

AP Exam grades are reported on a 5-
point scale as follows:
5 Extremely qualified
4 Well qualified
3 Qualified
2 Possibly qualified
1 No Recommendation
*** Most colleges/universities require at least a 3
to earn college credit. Universities use their
own discretion in awarding credits.
AP SCHEDULE CHANGE POLICY
AP students can change schedules,
within first 5 days of a semester if:
Did not receive a requested class;
Received a non-requested class;
A course is needed for graduation;
To balance study halls between semesters;
Administrator approval based on extenuating circumstances.
After first 5 days of a semester if:
Regularly attending class;
Completing and returning assignments;
Still too difficult, with tutoring and AP instructor assistance;
Administrator approval based on extenuating circumstances.
Parent/teacher/student meeting required.
SCHEDULE CHANGE CONTINUED
No schedule changes:
To be with friends;
To change lunches;
To change teachers/teams;
To get less work or an easier class.

How does this work???
For a student to qualify as a candidate for
the “Nelson Scholarship” , he/she
must…
successfully complete a minimum of 3 AP
and/or Project Lead the Way courses.
Additional notes that make PLTW qualify…
Must pass the standardized exam.
Must have an overall course grade average of B or higher.

Have successfully completed 26
credits by the end of the senior
year.
