Soviet Union
The Soviet Union was involved in the Cuban
Missile Crises by the fact that they were
secretely storing nuclear weapons on the
island of Cuba. After JFK had found out and
blocked off Cuba with naval ships, the Soviet
Union reacted by agreeing to take down missile
sites, which were so close to the U.S., which
eventually led to the Limited Nuclear Test Band
Treaty.

U2 Spyplane photograph
Here is a photo of a Soviet missile site taken by
the U2 Spyplane sent by the CIA which alerted
President Kennedy and the US about the
Soviet Union storing nuclear weapons on the
island of Cuba. Almost pushing the US and
Soviet to the brink of nuclear warfare.

Soviet-Cuban Trade Agreement
In the image shown is Fidel Castro and Nikita
Khrushcev(Soviet leader) signing the SovietCuban Trade Agreement which agreed to the
terms of that the Soviets were going to expand
relations along with trading of goods, and credit
with one another. This helped build relations
with one another(which helped out with the
Cuban Missile Crisis) and helped boost the
new Cuban economy after a downfall because
of a change in power.

Closet Communist Castro
After coming into power Castro was a so called
“closet communist” because he wouldn’t
acknowledge the fact he was a dictator. JFK
trained CIA members in putting a stop to the
new Cuban government to prevent the possible
spread of communism and because it was also
obvious that when Castro came into power he
did not share any or the same intersts with the
US government. Castro and the Cuban military
anticipated the attack that was to come from
the US(Bay of Pigs) and put a stop to it when
the Anti-Castro forces invaded with the large
numbers of men in the Cuban military.

Captured In the Bay of Pigs
Anti-Castro forces in a line to be taken into
Cuban prisons after the Bay Of Pigs. The CIA
sent these forces to prevent the leadership of
Fidel Castro and possibly the spread of
communism. Cuba anticipated the invasion and
the Anti-Castro forces were met by the Cuban
military rather than the revolutionaries.

Bay of Pigs captuers
Anti-Castro forces captured at the Bay of Pigs.
Many forces against Castro were either killed
or taken to Cuban prisons. Anti-Castro forces
were outnumbered by the Cuban military and
the US did not have any air support due to JFK
wanting to cut funds, so the Anti-Castro forces
did not have much support which resulted in
the Bay of Pigs being a failure.

Air Support in the Bay of Pigs
April 15, 1961, the day the battle truly began,
planes with Cuban marks flown by US military
pilots attacked several military spots on Cuba.
Although, the plane attacks for the 16th of April
were canceled from direct orders of JFK, so
that he could cut losses. Then, on April 17,
1961 around 1,400 brigade soldiers landed on
on the southern coast of Cuba which resulted
in a US loss due to the lack of air support and
being outnumbered.

JFK signs Nuclear Test Ban Treaty
In this photo it shows the signing of the Nuclear
Test Ban Treaty on August 5th, 1963, by both
the US and the Soviet Union leaders. After
tensions between the US and Soviets settled
down and threats of nuclear warfare weren’t a
problem, the treaty was written to prevent
nuclear war and keep humanity safe from
possibly ending itself.

Protestors against Nuclear war
These are protestors against nuclear warfare
between the US and Soviet Union. The US
government took notice to this and put thought
into what they were really doing which
eventually led to the Limited Nuclear Test Ban
Treaty so that they would end the threat of
harming themselves and other nations in the
process of nuclear warfare.

the fact that if nuclear war would’ve happened
and this treaty did not exist, this graph could
and would look a lost worse than it does now.
