• British Prime Minister Churchill convinced FDR that Hitler
was a bigger threat than Japan- Should strike Germany first
• After 2 years of fighting, the Allies planned to liberate
France
– D-Day: June 6, 1944
– 3 million British, American, and Canadian troops
– Plan to attack the French beaches and push the
Germans back towards Germany
