Acredited programmes:
 Informatics
 Computer Systems and Networks
The Bachelor degree study programme as the study
programme of the first level is aimed at acquisition of the
theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge based on
the current state of science and art, and at mastering their
use in execution of a profession or in the follow-up higher
education study. The graduates of the Bachelor degree
study programme receive higher education of the first level.
The Bachelors degree study programme is acredited also by
an international professional organization IET in London.
Timetable and credit system
• A school year consists of 2 semesters
• Student has to obtain 60 credits for a year, 30 for a semester
• Each subject is usually assigned the number of credits a
student receives after its completion. Number of credits
assigned to the subject reflects the proportion of the
student's work needed to successfully pass the subject
• Subjects are divided into three groups:
– mandatory: the core curriculum
– optional: extension of the core curriculum
– selection: complete the profile of a graduate student
7
A final bachelor work
• Bachelor courses include a final bachelor work
on 3rd nominal year in the form of two courses:
– Bachelor Project I: A written report in the range of
minimum 10 pages
– Bachelor Project II: essay in the range of
minimum 20 pages (excluding annexes), as
assessed by the project leader and an opponent,
defending the state exam.
8
Terms and conditions of the study plans creation
To enroll for a new school year, students have to assign subjects that way,
that they receive at least 15 credits for semester and at least 40 credits
total for the academic year. The total enrolled credits for the academic
year shall not exceed 90 credits.
Student himself is responsible the study plans creation to meet proper
conditions.
A student can enroll in additional courses if he gain at least 15 credits for
semester and at least 40 credits for the academic year.
The number of the credits includes credits earned for completion of subjects,
which student has enrolled as repeated.
Permitted length of study shall not exceed the standard length (3 years) by
more than two years, including the state examinations. The time shall not
include allowed interruption of the study.
9
Terms and conditions of completion of courses
Each subject can be completed by one of the following options:
• Assignment
• Graded assignment
• Assignment and examination
• Examination
• State examination
The overall assessment is an integral evaluation, which includes:
• preliminary assessment (evaluates the student's knowledge, the overall
study effort, and the independent student's work)
• final assessment (evaluates the level of passing the final test or defense
of the project)

seen in providing education on the basis of
creative research especially in such fields as
electrical engineering and informatics.
Three main directions for research and
pedagogic activities: Informatics and
Cybernetics, Electronics and
Telecommunications, Electric Power and
Heavy-Current Engineering.
Introduction (2)



Faculty consists of 9 departments, one special
research Center for Information Technologies and a
Computing Center providing IT services.
Present number of faculty staff members is 171
university teachers, among them: 27 professors, 44
associate professors, 100 assistant professors, 30
research workers, 45 administrative staff and
technicians, 10 other employees.
The number of MSc. students is approximately 2 000
and number of BSc. students is approximately 1400
every year.
Introduction (3)


The Computing Center offers services in field
of computer technology: it maintains and
supports majority of the faculty computing
facilities both in HW and SW. It is also
responsible for maintenance and operation of
the faculty computer network and networks
information services, four PC laboratories
with 50 personal computers that are working
24 hours/day and is also responsible for the
faculty information system.
Each student of the Faculty has a free access
to the Internet.
Introduction (4)


Center for Information Technologies (CIT) is
a joined research center of the Institute

are organizing various activities for students
starting by student exchanges and mobility.
Student facilities (3)
The Technical University of Košice STUDENT
INFORMATION AND COUNSELLING
CENTRE (SIPC) serves as the primary
information and contact center. It is a contact
between a student, the campus and the
management structures of the University and
Faculties.
The advantage of this center is the colaboration
of student-counselors and professionals with
the same interests.
