Introduction
What is e-learning?
… is an umbrella term that
describes learning done at a
computer, usually connected to
a network, giving us the
opportunity to learn almost
anytime, anywhere.
… is a catch-all term that covers a
wide range of instructional material
that can be delivered on a CD-ROM
or DVD, over a local area network
(LAN), or on the Internet.
… is the delivery of a learning, training
or education program by electronic
means. E-learning involves the use of a
computer or electronic device (e.g. a
mobile phone) in some way to provide
training, educational or learning
material. (Derek Stockley 2003)

The adaptation engine
• Evaluating user preferences (prediction)
• Making decision, which path to chose
for the user (content selection)
• Hiding uninteresting content and links
• Using scaled annotations for links
