Does God Exist?
Necessity of Understanding “GOD”
• Human Life is meant to solve the real problem of life
• To solve the problem in any field one must know the
root cause of the problem.
• Therefore the necessity of finding the cause of all causes
(in creation) & source of everything that exists within
creation.
Does
GOD
really exist?
EXISTENCE OF
GOD
AS A CONCRETE
PRINCIPLE
Proof of Existence of God
 Creation implies Creator
eg of Newton’s Model
 Everything in this world is
created by someone

The human

-Dr Richard Restak, MD
Author, The Brain
The human brain is made
of a trilliion
brain cells.
…and each one of these
is more powerful
and sophisticated
than most computers
around the planet today.

WHO
DECIDES ?
We choose
• A job
• A wife or a husband
• The type of car
• An apartment
• And many more things
We don’t choose
• Our parents
• Our beauty
• Our intelligence
WHO CHOOSES ?
AND ON
WHAT BASIS ?
IS IT BY
CHANCE?
We see
order and
systematic
arrangement
in the
universe…
Laws of
Mechanics
Laws of
Physical
Optics
Laws of
thermodynamics

Precise laws of

How can our
birth, beauty,
intelligence…
only be
random
events ?
Isn’t there a
law that
govern these ?
Definition of God
 Cause of all causes and the source of
everything that exists
 Supreme Controller
 Supreme Proprietor
 Supreme Enjoyer
Is Scripture the word of God?
How to acquire knowledge of God and From
whom?
3 Ways of Gaining knowledge
1.Pratyaksha Praman – Direct sense
perception
Unreliable due to four defects




Imperfect Senses
Being Illusioned
Tendency to commit mistakes
Tendency to cheat
3 Ways of Gaining Knowledge
2. Anuman Praman – Knowledge through
inference
eg frog in the well
3 Ways of Gaining Knowledge
3. Shabda Praman – Hearing from Authority
Eg of son wanting to know father.
Two Systems of Gaining knowledge
 Inductive
 Deductive
Inductive
(Ascending)
Trying to find the
truth by one’s own
endeavor or
speculation
Deductive
(Descending)
To learn the truth by
accepting an
authority & inquiring
from him
How can an ant living in one
corner of this classroom know
about...
What are the latest
developments in Afghanistan?
The wars in the other side of the
globe?
Who is
President of
United States
of America ?
Arafat &
ethnic
conflicts in
Palestine and
Lebanon
Logically speaking ant can
never know through its own
efforts through ASCENDING
PROCESS of acquiring
knowledge
Ground Reality...
Its tooooo...
small & has
limited sense
perception
Then how can we go about
understanding GOD who is creator
of infinite gigantic UNIVERSES?
We have no choice...
...but to accept the descending
method of acquiring
knowledge
Accept an authority & learn the truth
by inquiring submissively.
Need to hear from Spiritual
Authority
 We have no choice
 Saves Time and inconvenience
 It is safe
Test of Authority
 Opinion does not change
 It has stood the test of time
 It has not been proved wrong
What are Vedas?
 Vedas means books of Knowledge
 Vedas are original scriptures
 Scripture is the sound representation of God
i.e. sruti
 Vedic scriptures are infallible
Examples from Vedas



Bhugol has saptdvipa

Why Different Scriptures?

audience and are revealed according to time, place
and circumstances.

Knowledge given according to time,
place and circumstances
 “ Do not have sex with your mother and sister” 16th Surah of The Koran
 “Thou Shall Not Kill” – Ten Commandments, Bible
 Bhagavad Gita spoken to Arjuna – Best human being
when Indian Civilisation was at it’s best

performing sacrifices for the welfare of humanity
Different Religions, Same message
Essence of all the major scriptures
1. God is one and love of god
2. Obedience to the laws of god
3. Service to god
4. Return to the kingdom of god
Why Different Scriptures?
Although all empowered messengers of God
have the same message they restrict their
teachings to what their audience can digest.
Lord Sri Krishna tells Arjuna in
Bhagavad Gita,
‘jnanam te ‘ham sa-vijnanam
idam vaksyamy asesatah
Yaj jnatva neha bhuyo ‘nyaj
jnatavyam avasisyate’
“I shall now declare unto you in full this
knowledge both phenomenal and nomenal,
by knowing which there shall remain
nothing further to be known.” [BG 7.2]
All religions – Same message
1. ‘Love Thy God with all thy soul and all
thy might’ (Bible)
2. Islam means ‘complete surender’
3. ‘sarva dharman parityajya mam ekam
saranam vraja’ (Bhagavad Gita)
Abandon all varieties of religion and just
surrender to Me’
4. Glorification of Holy Name – 99 names of
Allah, 1000 names of Visnu, ‘Hallowed by
Thy Name’ (Bible)
Important Scriptures for Kali Yuga
