Aim and Objectives
Strategic Aim - By adopting a commercial approach across the Council we will:

– Reduce costs and increase efficiency
– Maximise income and cover our costs
– Maximise the return on all our assets
– Realise our potential for trading providing trusted services and value for
money
– Use our buying power to help deliver corporate priorities and to create
jobs
– Seek innovation via our commissioning and procurement activity
– Increase commercial skills and capacity

Pest Control
Digital Strategy :
The current pest control booking process is very manual and timeconsuming. This will be moved into the Achieve solution as part of the digital project.
Current status – probable go live will be June/July 2016 based on developer availability.
Marketing :
External marketing and coms have been limited to date, awaiting digital
solution to enable a simple booking process and larger volumes. Focus has been on WF
Housing contract. Other activities completed or underway:
1. Direct marketing to licenced landlords in newsletter 9/3/16
2. Information leaflet completed for food businesses in WF
3. Preparing leaflet for Neighbourhoods and PRPL officers.
4. Target TMOs (with WF Housing support)
5. Leaflet/information for landlords and estate agents
6. All Licensed Properties qualify for discounted rate

Large Item Collections – Premium Service
Digital Strategy : The online booking system went live in mid-February
including the pilot premium service. Initial system problems now appear to
have been resolved and we are gaining confidence in the online process.
Marketing : External marketing and coms have been limited to date, awaiting
the implementation of the digital solution. Now that the online bookings are
working more smoothly we will launch the marketing for this service. Planned:
1. Direct marketing to licenced landlords in newsletter
2. WF News and posters advert to move clients online
3. Rewrite website for premium service
4. Leaflet on LIC –premium services
5. Moving billboard campaign – June/July 2016

Handy Person
Digital Strategy : This service is under consideration for a simple digital
booking process. In the meantime we are preparing a simple email quoting and
booking process.
Marketing : No marketing has been carried out as yet.
Planned activities:
1. Direct marketing to landlords
2. Direct marketing to council tenants & Owner occupiers
3. Direct marketing to social lettings agencies
