Suggestive and Subliminal Marketing
What is Suggestive Marketing…
 A Suggestive (or subliminal) message is any sensory
stimulation below an individual's absolute threshold for
conscious perception.
 In other words; A message or advertisement that is
strategically placed to stimulate the human mind into
recognizing and creating familiarity with a product.
 A suggestive add contains sexually suggestive material or
content that would not be easily seen by the average viewer.
Influence on Marketing
 These ad are seen usually only by the subconscious and
are strategically placed to create an urge or interest for a
certain product.
 This form of marketing is seen as manipulative. A study
proved that individuals were somehow less likely to
remember the subliminal message than if there were no
message at all.
 Banned in 1972, subliminal messaging still has a role in
today’s society. Here are some examples.
