position (typically given twoweeks prior)
Memo
• Memos are commonly used for internal business
• EXAMPLES:
• Money transfers
• Company policy changes
• What could happen to an employee if they fail to read a
memo from their boss?
Email
• Most common form of written business communication
• Business professionals use emails to:
• send documents
• set up meetings
• confirm appointments
• contact job candidates
• What do the following mean in an email:
• CAPS are used
• Descriptive subject line
• Misspellings
Business Report
• Companies use reports to inform employees about
various aspects of the business
• EXAMPLE:
• Sales report
• What can an employee learn about the company from
reading their sales report?
Company Publication
• A message, statement, or text produced by the company
• audio, video, print, electronically
• EXAMPLE:
• Brochures (literature that feature your products and services)
• Why are brochures used/successful?

• Write a memo to me about your Columbus Day Weekend
(October 10-12)

• Proper headings
• Three paragraphs:
• Paragraph 1: about your Columbus Day weekend (activities that you did,
places you visited, items you bought, movies you saw, etc.)
• Paragraph 2: Apply the Marketing Mix to at least one product you
bought/used over the Columbus Day weekend (Product, Place, Price,
Promotion)
• Paragraph 3: Apply the 6 Marketing Functions to your Columbus Day
weekend (be detailed) – Selling, Pricing, Promoting, Distributing,
Marketing Information Management, Product Service Management.
