How we use CET – The team experience
• CET is a valuable tool that our dealership uses in conjunction with Autocad for bids and
marketing purposes.
• Since only some members of our design team use CET, our files need to be created in a
format that is accessible.
• Our (CET) designer creates a model, reviews it with the team and gets it approved prior to
exporting into a cad file.
• Once approved, the CET file is exported into a cad file and the model is given to the
marketing dept. to “make pretty.”
• Materials, textures, lighting, accessories and an environment are added.
•Finished renderings are then imported into a title page and branded for the client.
Using CET as a Marketing Tool
• The marketing department
always uses CET to create
idea starters for potential
clients.
• This helps to keep the design
department free to work on
actual projects rather than
spending time creating Black
and White line drawings in cad.
• Clients want renderings – not
black and white isometric
drawings.

Using CET as a Marketing Tool
• Our custom furniture division often requires
renderings so CET along with Autocad, allows us
to provide our clients with a rendering that they
can review and approve prior to finalizing the
design of their custom solutions.
Using CET as a Marketing Tool
• CET allows us the ability to
take our renderings to the next
level and provide our clients
with a more personalized visual
of their environment.
• 3D Google warehouse is a
great source for finding
accessories to decorate the
space.

• Final renderings are placed into a
titled page created in illustrator and
branded for the client, IOS,
designer and manufacturer.
•This allows marketing to have all
files available for print and also
make any changes if needed to the
verbiage.
• When a rendering is revised, we
always create a JPEG using the
photo series filmstrip. This jpeg is
already x-ref’d into the illustrator
title page so it automatically
updates the file.

Using CET as a Bid Tool
• During the bid phase, typicals and
specifications are all generated in CET.
• This makes revisions easier in the early
stages of the bid and saves time in the “cad”
phase of the project once it is awarded.
• Once a bid has been awarded, specs and
3D’s are handed to the assigned project
designer so that they may proceed with
creating the typicals in autocad.

Tips & Tricks
• For a more accurate representation, finishes and
textures are often adjusted in photoshop and then
imported into CET through the materials editor.
Sample shown online
Playing with the numeric formula in hue and
saturation in photoshop helped to create a more
accurate representation of the actual sample.
• This also insures that pricing and options remain as
specified if the spec is used from this file

FOR MODIFYING FINSIHES
Tips & Tricks
• Using ‘office lighitng’ vs. ‘multiple
suns’ can enhance the look of the
rendering by darkening the room
and spot lighting certain areas of
the vignette.
•The use of single lights can also
highlight a feature, such as a table,
by maximizing the cone width size
and shadow softness.
