Telophase
Interphase
• Most of the cell’s life time.
• Chromosomes replicate.
• Chromosomes are not visible under
microscope.
Prophase
• 1st stage of mitosis.
• Chromosomes become visible through a
microscope.
• Nuclear envelope breaks down.
• Chromosomes attach to spindle fibers.
Metaphase
• Chromosomes line up in center of cell.
• Chromosomes connected to spindle fiber
at its centromere.
Anaphase
• Sister chromatids separate and are pulled
to opposite sides of the cell.
Telophase
• New nuclear envelopes are formed around
each set of chromosomes.
Cytokinesis
• Cytoplasm pinches off to form two new
cells, each with its own nucleus.
