Cell Cycle
Interphase:
Period between cell divisions.
Cell doubles its original size.
All normal cell functions occur.
No cell division happens.
Chromosomes are duplicated
during this phase.
DNA is found in chromosomes.
Mitosis
Process by which cells reproduce
Happens by dividing the nucleus &
cytoplasm and duplicating
chromosomes
4-step process (PMAT)
Step 1: Prophase
Nuclear membrane begins to
disappear.
Step 2: Metaphase
Pairs of chromosomes line up
in the middle of the cell.
Step 3: Anaphase
Pairs of chromosomes split
apart.
Step 4: Telophase
Last stage of mitosis.
Furrow forms in the middle
of the cell to complete the
dividing of the cell.
Cytokinesis
Cell division is complete.
Results in two (daughter) cells.
