Schedule
• Clear fibers will be delivered by the end of July (7/21)
• Assembling of fibers will be done before the middle of
August.
• Basic tests (quality, alignment, attenuation) will be
finished and waveguides will be shipped to FNAL in
August.
Proposal for mass-production
• CI Industry can produce 18-hole opt. connector by machining (not
molded).
– Easy to control quality.
– Cost: 20,000$ / 2000 connectors
• sampling test of clear fiber
– measure diameter to determine margin of connecter hole
• change SciFi diameter : 0.350  0.300 mmF
– avoid loss at connectors
– smaller modify on D0 connector
– to fit diameter of fibers between D0 connector and VLPC
