CSI:
GULL LAKE
The Case of the Super
Destructive Rock
Captain James Brass called
from Las Vegas. He has a
case he’d like you, the
crime scene investigators
of Gull Lake Middle
School, to solve.
Grissam, Catherine
Willows, and Nick Stokes
will assist you.
The Case
Las Vegas seems to be having an issue
with a particular rock that has
been disrupting the rock cycle. It
is so bad it has altered sea-floor
spreading; where new crust is
formed and old crust is destroyed
at subduction zones. As of today,
crust is only being destroyed.
Therefore, land on which we are
living is disappearing into the
earth.
You are our only chance of saving
all of North America’s land! Over
the next couple of days you will be
learning how scientists identify
rocks. Once you learn how
scientists do what they do, you
will go through the process
yourself. After we find what type
of rock is the culprit, we will
create a brief report to send to
Captain Brass.
As of today, all that
we know about the
culprit rock is it has
interesting layers.
