BOHR MODEL

BOHR’S MODEL PRINCIPLES
 Fact 1: First to theorize the idea that electrons are on
fixed orbits.
 Bohr said electrons are on fixed orbits also called
“stationary” orbits
 Each orbit has an energy amount; the smallest is located
closest to the nucleus it is E1 the next Is E2 and so on…
 Light is emmited when an electron jumps from a higher
electron and light is absorbed when jumping from a lower
orbit

 Fact 2: The quantum theory of atomic processes was
proposed by Niels Bohr in the year 1913, and was
based on the atomic model proposed earlier by
Rutherford.
 Fact 3: Bohr's theory could explain why atoms
emitted light in fixed wavelengths.

 Fact 4: The Bohr model is no longer accepted as a
valid model of the atom
 Fact 5: In 1913, Niels Bohr proposed a theory for the
hydrogen atom based off of quantum theory stating
that energy is transferred only in well defined
quantities.
