Paris Agreement (4 November 2016)
1. This Agreement […] aims to strengthen the global response to
the threat of climate change […] by:
(a) Holding the increase in the global average temperature to well
below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit
the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels […];
(b) Increasing the ability to adapt to the adverse impacts of climate
change and foster climate resilience and low greenhouse gas
emissions development, in a manner that does not threaten food
production; and
(c) Making finance flows consistent with a pathway towards low
greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resilient development.

– Enhancing observations of GCOS Essential Climate Variables
– Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System
– Climate resilience and adaptation through Global Framework of
Climate Services
– Engagement in UNFCCC processes: Conference of Parties and
Subsidiary Bodies

• Invites Members (key entry points)
– Engage in the above areas at national level
– Contribute to the development and implementation of Nationally
Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement, and National
Adaptation Plans, including through projects financed by the
Green Climate Fund (through National Designated Authority)
– National institutional frameworks for climate services planning
and implementation
– Participate in national UNFCCC delegations
