Meteorology, 6th edition. (OR 7TH
edition)
• Available from the bookstore.
• You can use older editions if you can
find them cheaper. They have the
same information. 

Reading Assignments for
Quizzes !
• Should be completed BEFORE class!!!!
• Readings will be the basis for the 3 question
quizzes at the beginning each class.
• First three weeks no iClickers to give folks a chance to
purchase and register them.
• Rest of the semester all quizzes will be done with iClickers.
• Quizzes will have 3 questions. You get 1 point for
“participation/attendance” so you can earn a total of 4
points for your grade.

including weather and climate.
• Group Activity Challenge – Worth 1 point Extra Credit: What can you do with a degree in
Meteorology??
• As a groups of (4 or 5) list AS MANY careers/jobs that you can think of that require Meteorological
training.
• Group with Longest list of Actual jobs wins 1 point extra credit (for each member of the group).

• Daily Weather – affects how we plan our days
• Severe Weather – causes damage, loss of life, loss of property (memorable)
• Includes, tornadoes, hurricanes, snow storms, floods, thunderstorms… and much more.
• Climate Change – How will weather and climate change in the future?
• Affects quality of life, water supplies, food supplies

multiplication or division

• With California facing one of the most
severe droughts on record, Governor
Brown declared a drought State of
Emergency in January and directed
state officials to take all necessary
actions to prepare for water shortages.
The state has continued to lead the
way to make sure California is able to
cope with an unprecedented drought.

have reduced water use by 26.3
percent in the six months since
emergency conservation
regulations took effect in June
