Pollution’s Effects on
Agriculture
By Kylee Yakel
Pollution and Agriculture
Types of pollution include air, water, and
soil pollution. The question is:
How does pollution affect
agriculture?
Types Of Air Pollution

Global Warming
Acid Rain
Smog
Ozone Depletion
Acid Rain: Water AND Air
Acid rain is air and water pollution because it
appears in both gas and liquid form.
Acid Rain…
 Washes nutrients out of the soil
 Harms the very fine root hairs on many plants
Acid Rain: Water AND Air
High altitude trees can be exposed to pH
levels as low as 3.
Soil Pollution

Soil pollution usually occurs when:
Rupture of underground storage tanks
Excess pesticides are applied
Dumping of oil and fuel
Common chemicals used are:
Petroleum hydrocarbons
Pesticides
Lead
Solvents
Conclusion
Overall, pollution has a negative
affect on agriculture. Acid rain kills
plants, and soil pollution damages the
soil plants grow in. We need to be
more careful with our resources and try
to reduce pollution.
